We’ve started asking local people what they enjoy about their new fast fibre broadband internet with our Home and Business Case Studies.

Global Adventure Challenges

“Putting customer service at the heart of our business is key to everything we do. We’re hot on detail and efficiency, and deliver it at every level, which is why it’s imperative that we have the most modern systems and connections, including superfast fibre.”

Daniel Sadler-Roberts, IT Manager

Global Adventure Challenges is a tour operator that works exclusively for charities, organising UK, European and international events. The business employs around 50 people. “We needed a fast and reliable communications service. Problem was, we didn’t have one. We had a tired old broadband connection that could muster an upload speed of half a Meg and a download speed of 10 Megs at best,” says Daniel Sadler-Roberts, IT Manager. “Frankly, we couldn’t carry on like that, which is why we were so relieved when we heard that Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) was coming to our neck of the woods. The speed is important. FTTP allows us to upload at 20 Megs and download at whopping 80 Megs.

Impact on Productivity

The Challenge

“We rely heavily on the internet, especially when we’re planning event routes. If two of our researchers were online at the same time with the old broadband connection, it would stretch our bandwidth to the limit. So much so that if someone else wanted to send an email with attachments, they would have to wait.

The Fibre Solution

“FTTP is like a breath of fresh air by comparison. Everyone in the office can do what they need to do online. And they can do it exactly when they need to, without interrupting anyone else. They can even work from home in exactly the same way as they do in the office, courtesy of a secure connection to their PC back at base. Productivity has shot up since we got FTTP. And I no longer get complaints from colleagues about slow connections or being unable to get online, which is something of a relief.

We’ve also brought certain services in house. For example, we now host the small informational websites we publish for bespoke events. In addition to putting us back in control, this FTTP-enabled solution is set to save us hundreds of pounds a year in data centre charges.”

mediafour

“As a media business we deliver content to our clients via an ftp site. The speed at which our clients such as the BBC can acccess our work and feedback is vital to our bottom line and work flow.”

How it helped

  • Improved communications with customers
  • Quick and reliable delivery of content

This meant

  • Improved productivity
  • Overall cost reduction
  • Customer retention and new customers generated

Impact on Productivity

The Challenge

The internet was simply too slow. High levels of data transfer meant that prior to having fibre broadband our clients would take twice as long to feedback to us, inturn creating a workflow problem and stretching our clients relationships.

The Solution

Once fibre was available we have seen increased work flow, projects have been turned around quickly and been more efficient. We have increased our client base due to our services and finished work to even the tightest deadlines that were impossible before. Moving from download: 5.60 Mb/s – Upload: 0.85 Mb/s to download: 74.74 Mb/s – Upload: 18.90 Mb/s has given all clients the ability to download our content, and in some cases such as the BBC, where we transfer large video files to meet air time deadlines, it has become very successful and reliable. Technology is now enabling us rather than hindering us.

SCS Technologies Ltd

“Our old service was constantly dropping out and we could not guarantee the high level of seamless service and response our customers expected from us. Since we installed our new fibre to the premise service this is now possible and we can send or receive at the same high speed, something that was impossible with our old service and be confident that our connection will be completely resilient.”

Based in Woolston near Warrington, SCS Technologies design, install and maintain communication technology, including wireless, internet and multimedia systems. Established for over 20 years, SCS serve a wide range of private and public sector clients, including social housing providers and many large national hotels chains. Prior to installing a fibre service, their broadband service was unreliable and was impacting on both internal and external communications, including their cloud based job logging system for one of their major national clients.

How it helped

  • Increased Productivity
  • Ability to send and receive data at high-speed
  • Enabled engineers to work more efficiently

This meant

  • IImproved flexibility
  • Faster decision-making
  • Customer service improvements

Impact on Efficiency

The Challenge

Delivering a high-level of seamless customer care and responsiveness with an unreliable and slow broadband service.

The Fibre Solution

The faster speeds have resulted in a wide range benefits to the business such as enabling engineers in the field to video-conference direct to their Warrington base via their tablet computers and allow a cloud based ‘Drop box’ system for sharing documents throughout the business.
