Consultation into Faster Broadband Coverage

The consultation

The Connecting Cheshire Partnership, comprising Local Authorities of  Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Warrington and Halton, is striving to extend the availability of NGA (Next Generation Access) broadband infrastructure to meet the Government’s target for full fibre coverage by 2033 as stated in its Future Telecoms Infrastructure Review.

The Connecting Cheshire Partnership intends to procure further coverage of  NGA broadband infrastructure (capable of delivering download speeds of at least 30 Mbps) in areas where such broadband is currently unavailable (known as “white NGA”) across an intervention/programme area that aligns to its combined borough boundaries. This latest procurement will target an area with around 28,000 premises in it, with the  NGA broadband infrastructure to be delivered by the end of 2023.

The Partnership is requesting information on, and supporting evidence for, any current or planned (within the next 3 years) investment in broadband infrastructure across our programme area, where this is not already included within the proposed  NGA and the basic broadband map (PDF, 1.5MB).

Refer to the full state aid guidance (PDF, 131KB) and the list of postcodes (MS Excel, 593KB) for more information.
