Update on fibre deployment

Connecting Cheshire has so far connected over 24,000 premises across Cheshire, Halton and Warrington with fibre broadband. BT Openreach’s work on rolling out our fibre infrastructure is well under way however as with all engineering projects of this scale and complexity there will be challenges along the way.

The most common challenge faced by the team is in getting the fibre-optic cables through the underground ducting. This has slowed down progress in some areas, and in some instances forced us to amend our dates for delivery of fibre to later in the programme for which we apologise.

Ensuring our engineers keep working and installing fibre (even if it’s ahead of schedule in some areas) will mean that we will have time to revisit areas where we have encountered problems. We know this is disappointing for the few communities and would like to thank you for your continued patience.

We have produced a special project briefing to explain the issues.

Updated maps will be published later this month to show the progress Connecting Cheshire has made and slightly revised deployment phases. In the meantime you can find more information of our deployment across our website.
